This piece was commissioned by Display Pilot John Beattie as his personal ‘Thank you’ to the owner of Seafire XVII SX336. It shows John in the Seafire flying over the owner's house, ‘The Barn’ as they know it. I later met the original test Pilot Tommy Thompson who took it up for its first flight at Westland in WW2.
